Understanding the need for quality, affordable permanent housing with support services for families transitioning from homeless shelters and transitional housing programs, Virginia Supportive Housing purchased and renovated a four-unit apartment building in Richmond's Southern Barton Heights. This innovative program, FIND (Families In Neighborhoods Developing), began in 2000 and provides affordable housing for four families with children. In September of 2000, Virginia Supportive Housing received the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development "2000 Housing Achievement Award" for FIND because it..."demonstrates unique collaboration among a range of organizations to assist homeless families with affordable permanent housing." FIND 2, located in Highland Park opened in December 2002.
